Almost at the end
Becasue we are almost at the end of the competition there are only a few competing. In most of the catagories there is only one or two competing. It really would be silly to post first, second and third when there is only one person. Most of you if not all of you have qualified at this point. You new contestants have a week or two left. I don’t see anyone who is endanger of not making it. I hope to see everyone who qualified at the dress rehearsal. Keep up the good work.
On the men’s catagory for R Beach the standings for this last week are as follows:
Men’s 50+
1st Place
Gary Coole
2nd Place
Francis Gordon (Gordy)
3rd Place
Harry Bancroft
For the rest of the catagories there was only one contestant. That goes for both venues.
Diana,
When is the dress rehearsal?

Arthur, dress rehearsal is Feburary 18th. Everyone needs to come as if the big boys were going to be there.
Remember no cell phones on your belt. Nice shoes, a suit come dressed to kill. You have no idea how serious they are in Tampa. It will be a shock to first timers.
If I have done my job over the past few months the shock will not be so overwhelming. You should all be prepared. From what I have seen most of you are ready to go and the rehearsal will be great. It will tell the tale anyway.
Thank you for your hard work Arthur, it shows. Good luck!

Due to a conflict with the finals date at R Beach I had to re-qualify at the Ramada Inn. The finals were held there last week and it went very well. I sang a song that I was not considering because the song I had orignally chosen was in excess of 4 minutes just a little bit. Not wanting to be “cut off” I chose an alternative song to perform. Ironically, the Talent Quest judges were letting songs a little more than 4 minutes slide thru. Had I know that I would have sung my original choice song. The critiques I received from the judges were spot on. I knew when my song started that I was “pitchy’ on the first verse. The song is a difficult one to get the right pitch and that night I missed it. The judges ALL said the same thing … pitchy at the beginning but the rest of the song was fine. I was fortunate enough to make it thru to Tampa but I guarantee you that I won’t make the wrong song choice when I get there. I am writing this to let you know that the judging at the local finals is not “fixed” or even favorable to any one person in any way. One other male made the cut to Tampa and it was someone that I personally would not have chosen. But the judges heard something that they liked and it is THEIR decision, not mine or anyone else’s, so we will abide by it. I congratulated the person as I did the others who made the cut. My personal opinion is just that … MINE. So, when the finals take place at R Beach, take this experinece to heart and know that the judges (I presume they will be the same ones) are good at what they do and that they are unbiased in their judging. If you don’t make it to Tampa … at least accept their decision with humility and know you at least quaified when others didn’t.
